Everyday Heroes in Asturias (Spain)

Dear Associations,

We are a group of young people from Youropia association who are organizing an Exchange called Everyday Heroes in Asturias (Spain) for this summer 2016 (from July 21th to 27th aprox). The main topic we are going to deal with in this exchange is “Awareness of inequalities within the society”. We want to share the situation of inequalities and disadvantaged people in our country and how we (as individuals and

associations) face it, and we want you to share it, too. Following this topic, we have planned some activities, workshops, debates, etc… We have also planned some visits to places and organizations which work directly with inequalities and disabled people in order to help them. The aim of this project is to discover different approaches and ways to help people that may be applied in our environment.

The main objectives are to promote interest and empathy, especially with disabled people, to share different points of view with young people from other countries and to establish relationships with people from different cultures.

We are looking for associations which are interested in joining this project. Each group will have 5 participants plus a leader. The recommended age of the participants we are looking for is from 18 to 25 (we cannot work with minors). We would appreciate that the leader of the group was an experienced and competent person, but, due to the nature of the project and our own ages, we would also appreciate that the leader were young. In the case of the participants, experience should be valued, but it is not a requirement, in most cases eagerness is good enough! But please, note that some activities involve presenting different kinds of inequalities, how they are dealt with, and so on. Also, we will be in an international environment, therefore a basic level of English at least is needed.

The exchange is part of the EU program “Erasmus+: Youth in Action”, so you won’t have to pay for accommodation, food or activities.

Additionally, Erasmus+ also covers part of the journey costs; this part depends on the distance between your country and ours, which is determined by the distance calculator of the Erasmus+ program (you can consult it

here: http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/tools/distance_en.htm).

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Alba, Ángela, Covadonga, Patricia and Yasmina.
